I don't regret it one bit, because I've had such a blast, but if there's a way I could have my cake and eat it, too, I would, lol. Subnautica Multipurpose Room The world of Subnautica holds many secrets and. It feels like a game that would really wow me if it was the usual play the game when it's released rather than an early access title. Jellyshroom Cave The Jellyshroom Cave in all its glorySubnautica Biome. My only regret is that I'm experiencing all of it piecemeal. I really like how they're telling the story of the Aurora, the Degasi survivors, and eventually, the aliens. They have two working in the game right now, but that means you can only go back and forth. I'm especially interested to see how they implement the teleports. I'm excited to see some of the alien technology they bring to the game. And adding all of the precursor gun affects was a blast to go through. I had no idea they were under the safe shallows the whole time. For some reason I always thought they were over by the floating island. This last playthrough was my first time in the jellyshroom caves. I didn't get the game until the October update, but I think I've done about a dozen playthroughs at this point. It's fun gradually building up the blueprints and the mats to build everything. Yeah, I really enjoy the beginning best of all. I've been waiting to play the game for a day or two, so I can have something to sink some hours in when I get my Vive today! There are a few biomes that I haven't explored, but I think I'll save them for the next playthrough so I'll have something new to experience. I'm about 50 hours into this game, and have just about finished all of the progression. This first playthrough, I had went in without doing any research of technology or lore - so I didn't know that you could use the thermal vents for energy. In my next playthrough, that will be my preferred location. Usually by the south one, because it's closer to my preferred path to the inactive/active lava zones. Without a fabricator somewhere else it's restart game time.īut I like building my first real base next to one of the thermal vents in the safe shallows, so I've got plenty of energy without having to maintain it. I build the I-corridor base as soon as I can below the lifepod somewhere, because I get concerned the lifepod will disappear on me, as it's done before. But you haven't "jumped the storyline" as much as you do when you go to the island first.Originally posted by slxpress:I just build a whole new base. There are three such bases found within the game world, two of which have several sub-bases in their surroundings. Of course, at this point the island gives you "only" the alien tablet, the growbeds, plant samples, and the Bulkhead blueprint. The Degasi Seabases are habitats constructed by the three survivors from the Degasi, a spacecraft that crashed on Planet 4546B about a decade before the Aurora. At the lifepod you find a PDA with the rendesvous coordinates, which will lead you to the nearby island. Around pod 19 you will find Rubys and Gel Sacks, allowing you to construct Aerogel and thus the Thermal Power Plant and the Water Filtration Machine. You will be pointed toward the floating island shortly afterwards, via the Lifepod 19 event (Second Officer Keene). That seabase has Multipurpose Rooms, Observatory, Water Filtration Machine, Double Bed, Wall Planter, Spotlight, a databox, several PDAs (5 IIRC), and scattered around it several scanable items, usually including the Thermal Power Plant.

The Thermal Plant can produce limitless power for Seabases given time and proximity to heat. It requires 2 parts scanned to obtain the ingredient list for this object.

That one will give you the location of the Proposed Degasi Seabase (250m), in a different section of the Grassy Plateaus. The Thermal Plant is a generator crafted with the Habitat Builder that converts nearby high Temperatures (>25C) into Energy. If you explore that a bit (and who wouldn't, there's Shale Outcrops, Lithium, and Magnetite to be had), you will find a platform with a couple of cargo boxes and an Abandoned PDA. When you are getting close to pod 17 (Grassy Plateau, the one with the red grass), your PDA tells you about a "nearby cave system" - that's the Jellyshroom Caves, the one with the big pink mushrooms (and the Crabsnakes.). you usually get Lifepod 3 (damaged seaglide), then Lifepod 17 (Ozzy). If you're like me, AND want the more "juicy" location. I dislike "jumping" the storyline for an early trip to the floating island. Should be able to find it easy enough if you skim the bottom of the red grassy area just to the East of your lifepod.
